Meh
Not a great day. Had to go to the doctor’s for my wrist and they think I have a stress fracture in my wrist. In a brace, have to get an MRI, etc.
Get home from the Doc’s and find Wrigley covered in blood with holes in neck. Apparently the dogs got in a fight over their crates or something, and Wrigley lost.

Dear Fast Food
Our love affair is over. Anywhere with a drive-thru is now relegated solely to cheat days or road trips and such. First week back of training was a wake up call to say the least, but it was also motivating as hell. Kru Mark got me sparring more in the last week than I have in the last 6 months easy.
Tomorrow I start lifting to tone in addition to my regular training. Goal is to be ready to...
Now that shit is under control
Back to the gym on Monday. Weight to lose, diet to adhere to, goals to accomplish.

Plans for 2012
Since I recently had a ton of time to start thinking and getting my priorities straight, I thought I would get to work on goals for 2012. In no particular order:
Compete for both the Pan Am and World Titles in Gi and/or No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu
Compete for a title in either MMA or Muay Thai (both would be preferable)
Prove to Mark Beecher (and more importantly to myself) that I am serious about the...

Finally
Closing on the house tomorrow, will have keys either tomorrow afternoon or Monday.
Week and a half til World's
And I’m feeling more ready than ever. Little bit heavier than I’d like to be, but adjustments have been made and I’ll be on weight.
10 people in my division…they don’t know what’s coming to them.
Registered for world's
Despite a very bad fucking day, registered for World’s. 188.5lb men’s blue belt division….34lbs to go. 1.45lbs per day in loss (without cutting any water weight) and I hit that…cut a couple lbs of water to account for clothing and I’m golden.

Camp
Still feel weak as a pup, but I forced myself through conditioning and then jits. My body be damned, I will be ready for World’s.
Meh
So my first day of my World’s camp was spent sleeping and feeling like I had no energy. I did lose a bit of weight, but didn’t get any actual training done. Feel mildly better today, so going to hit up strength & conditioning then have work tonight. I need to start feeling better asap.
Ugh...
Who gets a sinus infection, bronchitis, laryngitis, a cold, and strep all at the same time? This guy….
Naga
Ended up taking 4th place.
First match I tapped when the guy swept me and dropped an elbow into my nose and then just held me. Couldn’t breath and thought it might have broken.
Second match I had the guy in a heel hook but he broke free, passed to side control and monson choked me.
This is my last time competing at 200lbs or higher. The guys are just too big. Felt like I was getting...
Meh
For the first time, I failed to make weight. Not sure if it was because I started tapering my water off to soon, or what, but it was the worst weight cut I’ve ever had. Started at 214 with the goal of getting to 199.9 (or lower if it went easy), weighed in at 202 with nothing left in me. I was barely standing, dizzy, and was doing everything I can not to puke. 15lbs might have been a bit...
To be the best you have to train with the best:

That’s right. Jason is the man. Hard working, humble, skilled, and driven. Man has his priorities locked down and his head on straight. It’s people like him, Mark Beecher, Cameron Diffley, Norm Turner, Michael “The Caveman” Madison, Tyler “The Ladybug” Rodgers, and the Legion...

Update
Still very much on track for NAGA. Work tomorrow is going to be long (6pm to probably 6am) so no training…that means today I cram in conditioning, bjj, and thai. Long night.
Hate to say it...
But Forest’s stand up hasn’t looked the same since he quit training with Beecher.
Tournaments and training
Working hard for some upcoming events. I started the week at 230 and was 221.4 this morning. I’m well ahead of my time table to make the low 200s in time to cut weight. My plan is to do NAGA on the 10th at 189.9lbs in the men’s intermediate division. The week after, is Quest for the Best here in Las Vegas. Shooting for 179.9, may work and try to do 169.9 since I can weigh in two days...

Well...
My day and a half of being fat are over. I enjoyed my sushi and wings, my last soda is being finished as I write this, and it’s time to push on. September 10th is Naga, goal is to be grappling at 179.9lbs (though if I can get to 169.9 that’s even better). Looking forward from there, I want to do a MMA fight or two before the year is over, so stay tuned for updates on October/November...

Ugh
Weight drop is going well. Averaging 1-2 pounds a day right now.
Did a Bikram Yoga class today and it kicked my ass BIG TIME. Came home, showered, passed out for an hour and did some Muay Thai. Tomorrow I wake up and do most of it again.
New schedule is looking like this:
Monday: Yoga, Conditioning (if I can), Muay Thai
Tuesday: Strength & Conditioning, Jits, Swimming
Wednesday:...
Living Large
Just registered for the IBJJF’s Las Vegas Open tournament August 13th. I’ll be doing blue belt gi at 207.5lbs. If you are in Vegas, come out and support all the guys From Legion/Throwdown and Drysdale as we fight. Thanks in advance to everyone who helps me to get ready for this camp including but not limited to Cameron Diffley, Mark Beecher, Norm Turner, and others.

So yeah
Been a bit since I updated. Work, general laziness, and other factors have been keeping me from doing so. This is a decent one though. Started the week at 241.7lbs, this is me at 231.2lbs. Goal for next week is 224.

Yep
No weekly weightloss update or photo. I honestly didn’t lose or gain an pound, and I am sick, so deal with it.
Holy shit...watch this.

Lived there a long time and didn’t know this shit was going on. Carl may or may not be in this video.
Update
Once again, fell a little short on the goal. I did have some weight loss, but didn’t get the full 7 pounds. Goal for this coming week is 230. This is me at 235.
Yep
Strength and conditioning with Norm, Jits with Cameron, then work til 5am….I get the feeling tonight is gonna be a long, sleepy night.
Meh
Well due to work, lack of regular sleep schedule, and other various factors including laziness on my part, last week was basically a wash. I neither gained nor lost any weight due to discipline on my diet but missing the gym. So my goal for Sunday morning is again 233 pounds.
Having just finished the gym for the day, I am confident I will achieve it this week. I will also be posting weekly...

Update
I fell 2 pounds short of my goal, for a total loss of 6 pounds this week. All in all not bad considering.
Goal for next sunday is 232, 8 pounds of loss.
Since I've seen this on a lot of sites....
There is no such thing as a “baby bella” mushroom. You are paying more money for an undersized/immature Portobello mushroom. It’s nothing more than a clever marketing scheme.
Also 3 pounds lost, 5 to go for the week.
Weekly goal
Started the week at 246lbs, by Sunday morning, I want to be 238lbs. 8 pound loss for the week.
Strength & conditioning and jits tonight wore me out. Dealing with house stuff tomorrow during the day, then more strength & conditioning, jits and work.
Meh
Reading past updates makes me feel like a lazy piece of shit. So many times I’ve said “I’m gonna do this, I’m gonna do that. This is the time” and honestly I’m done talking.
Back to the gym today. Do work.

2011
I’m not going to make a resolution, instead I’m going to make a list of things I plan on doing/accomplishing during this year.
Starting the day I am cleared to work out again, I will lose 4lbs a week until I’ve reached 170lbs.
Train 4 times a week minimum and work towards my purple belt.
Compete in BJJ/Grappling tournaments including Worlds, Pan-Ams (no gi most likely), etc.

Lost in the Void
Since my surgery I’ve been pretty quiet. Actually, I guess it’s been a lot longer than that, since I never even wrote anything about getting injured, finding out I needed knee surgery, or any of it. I suppose I’ve just had a lot of thoughts, but not the will to put them down. It’s been an interesting time, filled with periods of loneliness, desire, and in the end, a...

Great day. Woke up and ran hills (against the damn wind on the way home). Got my body fat tested via 3 point caliper test….and figured it would be bad. 20.9% overall. At least it’s a starting point. Went to Legion and trained hard, worked more sweeps and then rolled. Felt good, felt like my jits was coming back to me finally. Left and headed to Drysdale’s for a half-hour of...

So I’m about 90% sure I have staph. I’ll know more in a day or so when I get to the doctor and get it treated, but I’m hoping it doesn’t take away too much from training. I’m still planning on doing the Grappler’s Quest at the UFC expo, I just have to push myself hard on running and other stuff until I get back in the gym.

HARD night of rolling at Legion. We drilled for a solid hour and twenty minutes, with only a one minute break between each ten minute round. Didn’t realize it at the time, but I ended up with some pretty sweet bruises and cuts which made Lynn kinda baby me. Saw a few new variations on some positions and came home beat. I’m hoping that next week I’m able to make it to see Norm...
March 31, 2010
Another night of hard rolling at Legion. Got to work a bit on kimuras from the bottom of half-guard, the transition to the top if they try to counter, as well as the shin-in half guard and transition to deep half. Rolled with one of the higher belts who was there at Cameron’s request. Guy tore me up pretty good, but I did get a few moments of clarity in there. I definitely feel like this...

Finished up my bartending exam and set today as the date of my return to dieting and training. Woke up kinda early and then ate a light breakfast. Paid close attention to what Cole had said for me to follow and ate smart. Went for a run around 2, then came home and had a snack before heading to jits.
People at Legion are headed to Pan Ams next week, so we just drilled whatever we wanted. I...

Week in review
So Monday I got a scale so I could figure out just how far I’d fallen off the path. 235.6 pounds….heaviest I have been in a few years. Reigned in my diet, hit the gym as much as I could this week, and I’m on my way (again).
Monday and Wednesday I went and did Muay Thai and really felt just how out of shape I was. I was dragging ass, and puked on Monday. Part of it was one of...
New Year's Resolution

Learn at least conversational Portuguese
By July 1st weigh 170lbs
By July 1st have a 10% body fat
by Sept 1st have fought at least 1 mma fight
Compete in the World Gi and No gi tournaments (pending weight loss, unsure of the dates of the tournaments).
Pay off my balance with my Uncle Dennis, my student loan, and at least $1000 of the apartment in Richmond.
